Frequently asked questions

How long is the Roadcar R 540 exactly?
The R 540 measures 5,413 mm long, 2,050 mm wide and 2,580 mm high. That makes it the shortest layout in the range and it fits normal parking spaces – multi-storey car parks with 2.00 to 2.30 m clearance remain off limits because of its height.
How many people can sleep in the R 540?
Two people as standard in the transverse rear bed measuring 1,950 x 1,330 mm. The dinette can optionally be converted into two further berths, so four people can stay overnight in total.
How much payload does the R 540 have?
The manufacturer quotes around 870 kg of payload at 3,500 kg gross weight with 20 l of water on board. From 165 hp the mass in running order rises by about 40 kg, and every option reduces payload further.
Does the R 540 have its own bathroom?
Yes, the R 540 has a shower room, optionally with a window. It is compactly laid out but fully usable – with 110 l of fresh water and the 10-litre boiler of the Truma Combi 4 you can shower off-grid.
What kitchen equipment is on board?
The galley comprises a two-burner hob with piezo ignition, a sink and a 90-litre compressor fridge with a 6.4-litre freezer compartment. The compressor fridge runs off the 95 Ah leisure battery and stays reliable even in the heat.
Can you upgrade the R 540 for more off-grid capability?
Yes. Solar panels, a lithium battery, a DC-DC charger, an inverter or a composting toilet are fitted in our own workshop. Matching cabinetry comes from our joinery and mounts from our metal shop – enquiries on +49 4176 91 49 30.
